Trivia[]
- This is the last season in which the second place-winning video is announced before the first place-winning video of the contest in contestant episodes. Episode 20 marks the last occurrence of this in the show. In the next season onwards, the third place-winning video is announced instead.
- Beginning with this season, home videos could be submitted via abc.com.[1]
- "Waves of Laughter" is one of several videos to win first place in the first episode of its block, then win in the next $100,000 show.
- "Not-So-Thrilled Ride" is one of two grand prize-winning videos that cannot be found in the Home Video Licensing library. The other is "Plugged in Pug" from the previous season.
- Several videos nominated throughout this season have references in their titles:
- "The Boy in the Babble" is a pun on the 1986 song "The Boy in the Bubble" by Paul Simon.
- "Off Her [Their] Rocker" is an idiom used to describe an insane person.
- "Ring-a-Ding-Ding" shares its name with a 1961 Frank Sinatra album.
- "Get it on Tape" is a reference to "If you get it on tape, you can get it in cash," a catchphrase said by Tom Bergeron at the end of every AFV episode from 2001-2009.
- "Puppy love" is a synonym for "crush."
- "All I Lost for Christmas Was My Two Front Teeth" is a reference to the 1948 Christmas song "All I Want for Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth."
- "Fountain of Youth" shares its name with a mythical spring. This title was used for a 3rd place nominee in Season 12.
- A Slide Rule is a mechanical analog computer.
- "Let Them Sneak Cake" is a reference to "Let Them Eat Cake," a quote unlikely spoken by French Queen Marie Antoinette.
- "Dog and Puppet Show" is a reference to "Dog and Pony Show," a phrase used to describe an act done solely for optics.
