- Jo Thompson,[1] who stars in "Oh Dear!," won the 1987 Miss Texas beauty pageant.[2][3]
- This is the first season and one of the two, the other being Season 14, to have a nominee from Quebec, "Bear Fish Thief."
- "Baby Waters Slide" is the first of several videos to win first place in the first episode of its block, then win in the next $100,000 show.

- A "wet wedding" is a wedding in which alcohol is served. The title was used for another third-place winner in Season 13.
- "The Amazing Colossal Baby" is a parody of the 1957 film The Amazing Colossal Man. The film was riffed in an episode of the film review TV show Mystery Science Theater 3000, which aired four months before the AFV episode.
- "Here Kitty Kitty" is a reference to a post-oak bluff, a poker bet.
